Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the softwarepilot.net website and of our applications, including Finance Pilot (together, the "Services"), operated by SoftwarePilot LLC ("SoftwarePilot," "we," "us," or "our"). By using the Services you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to create a Finance Pilot account. By using the Services you represent that you meet this requirement.

Your account

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials, and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly at support@softwarepilot.net if you believe your account has been compromised. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe pose a security risk.

License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use our applications for your personal, non-commercial use on devices you own or control, subject to these Terms and to the rules of the app store you obtained the app from. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse engineer, or attempt to extract the source code of the Services, except where the law permits it despite this restriction.

Not financial advice

Finance Pilot is an informational tool, not a financial adviser. Budgets, insights, projections, categorizations, card recommendations, net-worth figures, tax tags, and similar features are automated estimates provided for your convenience. They are not financial, investment, tax, accounting, or legal advice, and they may be incomplete or inaccurate. Always verify balances and transactions with your financial institution, and consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions. You are solely responsible for your financial decisions.

Your data and content

You retain ownership of the information you enter into Finance Pilot. You grant us the limited right to host and process it solely to provide the Services to you, as described in our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for having the right to share any information you enter about other people (for example, household members or names on shared expenses).

Third-party services

The Services interoperate with third parties, including Plaid Inc. for optional bank account connections and Apple and Google for app distribution and platform services. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them. Linking a financial institution is optional, and availability of third-party connections may change.

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Services — including attempting to breach their security, accessing another person's account or data, probing or disrupting our infrastructure, using automated means to access the Services in a manner that imposes an unreasonable load, or using the Services for any unlawful purpose.

Intellectual property

The Services — including text, graphics, logos, and software — are the property of SoftwarePilot LLC or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Except for the license above, you may not reproduce or redistribute them without our prior written permission, except as permitted by law.

Termination

You may stop using the Services and delete your account at any time (see our account deletion instructions). We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Services; where practical, we will give you reasonable notice so you can export your data.

No warranties

The Services are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and accuracy. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data displayed (including data from linked accounts) is complete or current.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SoftwarePilot LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the Services — including financial decisions made in reliance on information shown in the Services. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Services will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Services in the twelve months before the claim arose or fifty US dollars (US$50).

App store terms

If you obtained Finance Pilot from the Apple App Store or Google Play, the store's terms also apply. Apple and Google are not parties to these Terms, have no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app, and are not responsible for addressing any claims relating to it. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo and are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms with respect to your use of the iOS app and may enforce them against you.

Third-party links

The Services may contain links to third-party sites. We are not responsible for the content or practices of those sites, and a link does not imply our endorsement.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Nothing in these Terms limits any consumer rights you have under the mandatory laws of your place of residence.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and post the updated Terms on this page; for material changes affecting Finance Pilot, we will also provide notice in the app. Continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
